We estimate that the records of U.S. Copyright Office website is up to date and 99 percent accurate. But if you do not want to gamble with the remaining 1% chance of error, we recommend you to conduct a copyright check through the US. Copyright Office.

According to its website:

"The U.S. Copyright Office offers a search service for persons interested in investigating whether a work is under copyright protection and, if so, the facts of the copyright. For a fee of $75 per hour or fraction thereof, the office will search its public records and provide a report of its findings. Based on the information you furnish below, we will provide an estimate of the total search fee before conducting the search."

When you conduct a search, make sure that you have all the information of the titles ready. This will make the job of the one performing copyright checks easier. You will also be able to save considerably if you conduct your search in per batch rather than on per title basis. Example, if the person in the Copyright office is able to conduct a copyright check at the rate of 10 titles per hour, you cost could go as low as $7.50 per title.
